Pat Irwin was a founding member of the ground-breaking instrumental band “The Raybeats,” as well as “Eight Eyed Spy,” formed with Lydia Lunch and others from the experimental New York “No Wave” scene of the late Seventies and early Eighties. “The Raybeats” recorded several albums as well as unreleased sessions with composer Philip Glass.
Pat played guitar and keyboards with “The B-52’s,” joining the band in 1989 and helping “Love Shack” and “Roam” to become international hits. The band toured relentlessly and Pat recorded and performed with “The B-52’s” through 2007.
Pat graduated from Grinnell College and is a recipient of a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship. While on the fellowship he lived in Paris and attended composition workshops and performed with composer John Cage.
